Overview

PhotoVox is a capture-and-explain notes app. The public website at https://www.photovox.app/ provides marketing, support, privacy, and terms pages. The app opens separately at https://app.photovox.app/.

Local-first app data

PhotoVox is local-first by default. User-created app data can include topics, bullets, typed notes, photos, audio recordings, transcript text, exports, backups, and related local note data. Clearing browser site data, deleting local app data, or changing browser profiles can remove local notes and media from that browser.

Sign-in, auth emails, and providers

PhotoVox account sign-in uses Supabase Auth. Current sign-in options include email/password, email sign-in links, and Google sign-in where configured. Apple sign-in is planned/wired but still pending final manual Apple-account verification. Auth emails, such as confirmation, sign-in, or password reset emails, may be sent by the configured auth email provider.

Sync, Tier 3, and future cloud storage

Signing in currently does not upload, download, merge, or sync your local notes. Backup/export remains the current manual transfer path. Sync is planned as a gated Tier 3 / Professional feature and is not production released. If sync is enabled later, PhotoVox will ask before uploading local topics, notes, photos, audio recordings, transcript text, and sync metadata to your PhotoVox account.

Future account sync is planned to use the confirmed PhotoVox Supabase project. Future media sync, if approved and enabled, may store photos and audio recordings in private Supabase Storage buckets such as photovox-images and photovox-audio. Cloud media storage and any signed URL behavior must not be described as local-only, and users should be told before media leaves the device.

Backups, export, and import

Backup/export/import is the current manual safety and transfer path. Exported ZIP files may contain your notes, transcript text, photos, audio recordings, and other user-created app data. Backup/export/import is separate from account sync and does not mean cloud backup is active. Store backups somewhere you control before clearing site data or changing browsers.

Transcription

Audio transcription is optional and may be unavailable unless a PhotoVox transcription endpoint is configured. When transcription is configured and enabled, recordings can become editable, searchable text. If cloud/API transcription is used and you request transcription, audio may leave your device and be sent to a PhotoVox backend transcription endpoint for processing. PhotoVox asks for clear consent before that happens, preserves the original recording, and avoids deleting existing transcript text if transcription fails.

Account deletion, local deletion, and retention

Account/auth deletion and local browser/device deletion are separate choices. Deleting account or cloud records only applies to account data and data that was actually uploaded to cloud services. Local notes and media stored in a browser may need to be exported, cleared through in-app local data controls, or removed through browser/site-data settings. Future cloud deletion should explain queued deletion, recovery windows, and retention behavior before it is enabled. Billing, legal, accounting, audit, fraud, usage, entitlement, invoice, and tax records may have separate retention requirements if those features exist later.

Support and admin access

Future support/admin tools should be metadata-first by default. Admins should not casually access note contents, transcript text, photos, audio recordings, backup files, or exported files. Any future content or media access requires an explicit user request or legal/support justification, role permission, a reason, audit logging, and limited scope.

Website analytics and advertising scripts

This website does not include Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, advertising pixels, cookie-based tracking scripts, checkout scripts, auth scripts, or live transcription enablement in this version.
